Witnesses watching a serious accident take place in front of their eyes on July 31 in St. Croix County likely didn't know that they were also witnessing the seventh fatality to take place this year in the state of Wisconsin. Taking place at the intersection of County Highway G and County Highway T in Erin Prairie, this fatal crash is a reminder to others across the state of just how dangerous of a mix inclement weather and distracted driving can be.
As readers of our blog know, Mother Nature has been incredibly generous with the amounts of snow she has dropped on areas across the state of Wisconsin, including here in our very own St. Croix County. Because of the tremendous amounts of frozen precipitation on the roadways, drivers have found travel to be more dangerous than usual.
Icy roads, as well as perhaps a little negligence, were to blame for a serious accident that crippled three vehicles and sent13 people to the hospital this month. And although police have yet to complete the investigation into the matter, community members are already starting to speculate about what events led up to this series of accidents.
