Wisconsin Rapids police urge hit-and-run driver to come forward

| Oct 24, 2013 | Hit And Run Accidents

As we’ve said before in past posts, hit-and-run accidents often leave victims with the worst sense of injustice because the driver responsible for causing the accident sometimes goes unpunished. Some of our readers may know this frustration firsthand and may still be holding out hope that police find the driver and hold them accountable for their actions.

That’s the hope in Wisconsin Rapids this month as police continue to search for the driver responsible for causing a serious hit-and-run accident that involved another vehicle. The crash happened around 8:23 p.m. on October 11 while a Wisconsin woman and her passenger were stopped at a red light. According to reports, a green pickup truck slammed into the stopped vehicle, causing injuries to the two occupants, before it drove off down the East Riverview Expressway. Although police searched the area for the vehicle and its driver, police say that neither has been discovered since the crash.

Officers from the Wisconsin Rapids police are now urging the public to come forward with any information that may help them solve this case. They have also made a public plea to the male driver who caused the accident to come forward. Since January 1, the department has handled at least 57 hit-and-run cases and likely wants to add this one to the solved pile very soon so as to give the two victims the sense of justice they deserve.

If the driver is found, police say they will hold him responsible for his actions and, because he fled the scene of an injury-causing accident, he is likely to face additional fines and penalties. On top of that, he could also face civil litigation if the victims decide to seek restitution for the injuries he caused.
