While sun glare may have been a factor in a fatal accident that claimed the life of a 58-year-old Madison woman, it may not be enough to stop Wisconsin police from pressing charges of negligence against the driver responsible for hitting her. Now, as the investigation continues, people in the community and the victim’s family are likely wondering what will happen after the investigation is completed.

The 58-year-old woman is thought to have been pulled over to the side of the road after having just been struck by a motorcyclist when she stepped out of her vehicle. But because of glare from the sun, investigators believe that the driver in an approaching vehicle did not see her and inevitably struck her.

This second accident then caused a series of other accidents to occur along the highway. Eight cars in total are said to have been involved. And while the 58-year-old Madison woman is the only person who died as a result of this serious car accident, four other people did suffer injuries in the crashes following the deadly collision.

Whether police determine that the driver who struck the woman was negligent behind the wheel may not matter to the victims’ family who may still want to file a wrongful death claim in the months to come. The same could be said about the victims in the following crashes who are likely wondering at this time from whom they can receive compensation for their injuries. It’s for difficult questions like this that a skilled attorney may be needed in order to gain the necessary closure.
