Three drunk-driving accidents lead to three arrests in one week

Saying that there are a lot of reckless drivers on the roads would not a surprising statement to most people in Wisconsin. Whether you've read about it here on our blog or heard about it on the news, there are many drivers who make poor choices behind the wheel which can put other drivers in considerable danger. This is especially true when it comes to the decision to drink and drive.

But many Wisconsin residents will be relieved to hear that at least three more reckless drivers have been taken off the roadways now. According to police, three men were arrested in the last week in March after all being involved in separate drunk-driving accidents. Thankfully, no one is reported to have been injured as a result of their lapses in judgment.

The first man, a 43-year-old from Superior, was arrested after police responded to reports of a vehicle having driven through two yards in the area. When police arrived on the scene, the 43-year-old appeared to be sleeping at the wheel. Though he denied that he had been drinking at first, he later admitted to consuming six beers before getting behind the wheel.

The second man, who also found asleep at the wheel of his car, was found after Superior Police were alerted to a hit-and-run accident. Following tips from witnesses, the 54-year-old driver was arrested after failing several field sobriety tests and having a BAC of .214.

Officers discovered the third man, a 33-year-old, after being dispatched to a one-vehicle crash along Highway 13 in the northern part of the state. The driver is said to have been walking towards the officer's squad car as it approached. He admitted to officers that he had consumed approximately 12 beers an hour prior to getting behind the wheel. He was immediately arrested after blood-alcohol tests determined that he was more than twice the legal limit.

Thankfully, in all three cases no one was reported to have been injured as a result of these men's actions. But as readers of our blog know, not everyone is as lucky and that's why it's important for police to continue to keep drunk drivers off the roads and hold them responsible for their actions.
