Multi-vehicle crash in Somerset, Wisconsin kills 2

While few people want to think about it in an instant, a car crash can change one's life. It may even end it. Several people involved in a fatal automobile accident earlier this week experienced this first hand. The three-vehicle collision, which occurred in Western Wisconsin, claimed the life of two people.

The collision took place in the afternoon when a car driven by a 34-year-old woman attempted to pass another vehicle. As she did so, she struck a vehicle which was driven by a 60-year-old man, and caused it to end up in the shoulder or ditch. The first vehicle continued on and hit another one, occupied by an 83-year-old woman.

The woman in the last car survived the initial crash but died later at the hospital where she was transported via a helicopter. The man in the first vehicle hit was also injured and was taken to an area hospital. His condition is unknown. The woman who was in the car that was trying to pass the first car, died at the scene.

Determining exactly what happened in an accident involving so many vehicles can be complicated and sometimes involves a reconstruction of the scene. While law enforcement officers appear to have an idea about what happened it is possible that additional information could be uncovered in the course of the investigation that is taking place regarding the matter. Whether the investigation will determine what caused the vehicle to hit the car it was attempting to pass remains to be seen.
