Anonymous call leads to suspect in fatal Wisconsin auto accident

An anonymous tip led to the arrest of an out-of-state man in connection to the deaths of two motorcycle riders. The man is suspected of being the driver in a hit-and-run auto accident in Wisconsin that occurred days before. Authorities originally believed the vehicle involved to be a Nissan, but evidence at the scene led them to an Infiniti, which is the same type of vehicle reported by the tipster.

Two motorcyclists killed in Wisconsin hit-and-run accident

The sudden loss of a loved one in a motor vehicle accident is always difficult to handle. An already devastating situation is made that much worse when those involved in the incident leave the scene. Family members of two young people who recently died following a hit-and-run accident are facing this now. The two men were riding motorcycles when they were struck by a vehicle believed to be of the sport utility variety. Though this incident occurred in another part of the state, fatal hit-and-run crashes occur all too regularly in the Hudson area as well.

Distracted driving accident awareness a focus for Wisconsin DOT

The United States Congress decided that April is designated as National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. This is partly because as many as 421,000 people suffered injuries and 3,328 people died in a distracted driving accident in 2012. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is hoping that its campaign during the month of April will raise awareness of this dangerous problem.

Drunk driver who killed Wisconsin man sentenced to prison

It’s hard to image losing a spouse of more than 60 years due to the actions of a drunk driver. Sadly this very thing occurred in late 2012. An 80-year-old man was killed in Wisconsin when a vehicle driven by a 58-year-old man struck the vehicle he and his wife were driving in. The younger man, who in addition to having marijuana in his system also had a blood alcohol content of 0.28, ran a stop sign with the vehicle.

Wisconsin woman sentenced in June 2013 DUI accident

Back on June 21, 2013, we reported on the tragic death of a dentist who was riding his bicycle on Highway G in the early morning hours of June 1, 2013 ("Wisconsin driver abandons car after bicycle accident, rider dies"). The woman arrested in this DUI accident claimed she thought she struck a deer. She contacted a friend who came to give her a ride home, leaving both her car and the victim behind.

Truck fails to stop after hitting Wisconsin boy

It’s a parent’s worst nightmare—a child suffering serious injuries in a motor vehicle accident. Sadly, the parents of a Western Wisconsin boy are facing this very reality. Earlier this month the 9-year-old was involved in a hit-and-run accident with a semi.

Driver faces charges in alleged DUI accident in Wisconsin

A Wisconsin man told sheriff's deputies that ice on the road caused him to lose control of his vehicle. Yet, he also said that he and his friend had been drinking and driving around that night. As a result, the driver was taken into custody in connection with the suspected DUI accident.

Alleged alcohol-related accident causes serious injury to driver

Most everyone in Wisconsin knows that drinking alcohol diminishes a person's ability to make rational decisions. People that would agree that drinking and driving is dangerous may still make the wrong choice after drinking and still get behind the wheel of a car. When that happens, the probability of being involved in an alcohol-related accident increases dramatically, as does the possibility of someone being seriously injured or killed.
