Wisconsin auto-pedestrian accidents: Woman hurt after hit-and-run

As Wisconsin residents are well aware, it is not uncommon to see pedestrians out and about along the roadways. Because of this, it is absolutely crucial that vehicle drivers pay attention and are aware of pedestrians when present. Negligent or distracted drivers may not see pedestrians, which often results in auto-pedestrian accidents. These collisions can result in serious injuries or fatalities, so practicing appropriate safety measures is crucial for both pedestrians and drivers.

When a driver is preoccupied or negligent and ends up striking a pedestrian, they often become scared and do not stop at the scene. Unfortunately, this is similar to one recent accident. A woman was crossing the road in her wheelchair when she was hit by a vehicle. Reportedly, this vehicle then kept driving away from the scene.

As one might suspect, the victim was ejected from her chair and endured a variety of injuries resulting from the crash. Police have reported that she was not illegally crossing the street. Luckily, she was able to remain conscious enough to see and remember details about the vehicle that hit her. This may be helpful in tracking down the driver that struck her and holding him responsible for his or her negligent actions.

When Wisconsin residents are involved in auto-pedestrian accidents, they will incur expensive medical costs and may find it difficult to pay household bills if time from work is lost as a result of the crash. In many cases, there is both emotional and financial harm caused. However, Wisconsin residents may want to seek information regarding their legal right to file a claim, which may be able to provide compensation for medical costs, pain and suffering and other damages sustained from the accident.
