Wisconsin car accident: Numerous people in hospital after wrecks

Two separate car wrecks in Wisconsin have sent several people to the hospital. A two car accident south of Baraboo resulted in the hospitalization of both drivers. A second accident involving two vehicles injured eight people. Both accidents are still under investigation.

The first accident occurred when a vehicle that was traveling north on U.S. Highway 12 was making a left hand turn close to the old Badger Army Ammunition Plant in Sauk County. As the vehicle was negotiating the turn, another vehicle heading south slammed into it. One of the drivers had to be airlifted to University of Wisconsin-Madison Hospital while the other driver, whose vehicle ended up on its roof, was taken to St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo. The extent of their injuries and their current conditions are unknown.

The second accident occurred in Fairfield where County Highway U and County Highway A intersect. A vehicle traveling west on County Highway U failed to stop at the intersection's stop sign. Another vehicle in the intersection was unable to avoid colliding with the first vehicle. Eight of the occupants of the two vehicles were transported to St. Clare Hospital to be treated for unknown injuries. Their current conditions are unknown.

The injured parties in both of these accidents may want to find out what their rights and responsibilities under Wisconsin law. The injured parties retain the right to file civil action against the party or parties deemed responsible. Expenses such as medical bills and lost wages have a tendency to add up quickly after a car accident and can financially cripple a family. If an injured party is able to prove that another party negligently caused their injuries, a civil court may award monetary compensation to the injured party to help them recover from the financial impact of the accident.
