Wisconsin car accident: Motorcycle rider dies in crash with SUV

A motorcyclist and his passenger were taken to the hospital after the motorcycle they were riding was struck by an SUV. The motorcycle vs. car accident happened on Highway 63 outside Ellsworth, Wisconsin. Even though the biker was airlifted to a hospital to receive medical care, his injuries were too severe, and he died later the same day.

Preliminary reports indicate that the motorcycle driver may have severed limb in the accident. Ultimately, the motorcycle passenger was also airlifted by helicopter to a hospital, where she was reported to be in fair condition. The SUV driver was also injured and was taken to River Falls Area Hospital. There was no further word on her medical condition.

The Wisconsin State Police and Pierce County deputies were investigating the circumstances of the crash. Preliminary findings indicate that the SUV crossed the center line and struck the motorcycle, sending its riders flying. Before the SUV came to a rest, it left the road and overturned.

The deceased victim's family has been forced to prematurely bury their loved one as a result of this horrific car accident, and his passenger is likely struggling to recover from her serious injuries. Both the family of the driver and the passenger retain the right to file civil legal action against the driver of the SUV. Filing a wrongful death action and/or a personal injury lawsuit will not change the outcome, but it may help with the financial burdens of the accident. The costs of an accident add up quickly. Medical bills, funeral costs, and other damages may be recoverable in a civil action if it can be proven that the actions of the driver of the SUV negligently caused the death of the biker and the injuries to his passenger.
